SCDI

SCDI has always maintained an active interest in London, providing opportunities for regular interface and debate with London-based members, national organisations and Westminster.

SCDI’s London Committee was relaunched in 2010, and aims to raise the level of SCDI’s activity and engagement in London, involving its network of contacts actively as a forum for policy and issue-based discussion; to champion the SCDI and Scottish message in London; and to help communicate current Scottish business, economic and political developments to key decision-makers.

If you have a presence in London, or have colleagues/contacts who might be interested in our London programme, please contact iain.mctaggart@scdi.org.uk

Members' Reception at Dover House - 15 June 2011

SCDI’s Annual London reception takes place on 15 June, once again hosted at The Scotland Office, Dover House, by kind permission of the Secretary of State for Scotland.  At a time of economic challenge and opportunity for Scotland, this event aims to promote, engage and update our members, strategic stakeholders, partners and MPs on SCDI’s current and future activity in London and with Westminster.  The event is organised in partnership with The Crown Estate, who will be present to outline the range of their activities.

Annual Dinner in London - 23 February 2011

SCDI’s Annual Dinner in London took place on Wednesday 23 February, and was addressed by Sir Craig Reedie, member of the International Olympic Committee and Board Director of London 2012.  Sir Craig’s speech, and the subsequent discussion, highlighted the unique opportunity presented by the Olympic Games in terms of international profile, business engagement, economic regeneration, opportunities for young people, and the potential collaboration and shared learning for the Commonwealth Games 2014 being staged in Glasgow. Principal Partners of the Annual Dinner were BAA Heathrow, Shell and Siemens Building Technologies.
Associate Partners were Highland Spring and Virgin Trains.

Members' Event at The Telegraph - 25 October 2010
We organised an SCDI seminar, kindly hosted by Telegraph Media Group at the prestigious Telegraph Building with its state of the art, integrated newsroom.  This event focussed on reputation and perceptions of Scotland through the media perspective, and the impact of the evolving media environment.  We are delighted that Murdoch MacLennan, Chief Executive, gave his personal welcome and perspective, and that Ben Brogan, Deputy Editor, amplified this with his further insights into the subject.
