SCDI's Annual Highlands & Islands Dinner & Business Excellence Awards is the highlight of the Highland business calendar and is always a sell-out, with 350 guests drawn from the Highland business and economic community and across Scotland. This year's celebratory business Awards Dinner takes place on Friday 8 September 2017 in Inverness, with the Awards being hosted by popular comedian, actor and satirist Marcus Brigstocke.

More specifically, SCDI's Highlands & Islands Annual Dinner & Business Excellence Awards celebrates excellence and is the premier event for showcasing the cream of the region's businesses. 

The SCDI H&I Business Excellence Awards 2017 categories are now open for entry, with a Closing Date for applications of 1 August 2017.

Benromach Award for Excellence in International Business

An organisation, working in the Highlands & Islands, which best demonstrates a track-record of outstanding achievement in the global marketplace, involving a strong internationalisation & export strategy which underpins growth and an ability to innovate and break into new markets.

Crown Estate Scotland Award for Excellence in a Marine Business

The company working in the Highlands & Islands, which best demonstrates successful working in the region's marine environment - supported by evidence of business performance, environmental care and sustainability and including local community involvement.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise Award for Excellence in Research & Innovation

The organisation working in the Highlands & Islands, which best demonstrates the application of Research and/or Innovation to improve their competitiveness - including evidence of significant productivity increases, enhanced business processes and how this has affected future plans for the organisation.

Liberty British Aluminium Award for Outstanding Business Ambassador

The business leader who best demonstrates having made an outstanding personal difference to a business and a significant positive contribution to the region's economy. Innovation, community impact, overcoming barriers and the ability to act as an inspiration to others are as important as turnover.

Scottish Environment Protection Agency Award for Excellence in Environmental Sustainability

The business or organisation, working in the Highlands & Islands, which best demonstrates its commitment and overall approach to improving its environmental performance and resource efficiency - including innovative solutions which minimise environmental impact, sharing good practice and effectively working with third parties, in ways which go beyond regulatory compliance and also increase profits and/or efficiency.

SCDI Award for Excellence in People Development

The organisation, working in the Highlands & Islands, which best demonstrates its commitment to developing the skills of its employees. This will involve leadership and a company-wide ethos of investment in people which shows a high priority to excellence of service, health & safety, sustainability and the communities in which its works.

On the Awards Dinner evening, we will also be presenting our Young Engineers & Science Clubs (YESC) Regional Club of the Year 2017 trophy.

We're delighted that popular comedian, actor and satirist Marcus Brigstocke is the host of this year's SCDI Highlands & Islands Business Excellence Awards 2017.

He returns to the region having once worked on an oil rig moored in the Cromarty Firth!

A well-known entertainer, Marcus has worked extensively in stand-up comedy, TV and radio - particularly the comedy slot on BBC Radio 4.
