Delivered in Partnership with The Highland Council, HIE, Highlife Highland, Hitrans, UHI, this SCDI Influencers' Dinner is part of our Inverness & Highland City-Region Deal Series, and will engage with Keith Brown MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs & Fair Work, The Scottish Government.

This dinner is part of a series of events which SCDI are holding over the year focussed on the City-Region Deal's themes of Digital Opportunity; Enhanced Growth Capacity; Innovation; Young People; Up-skilling; Life Sciences; Tourism; and Low Carbon.

The Inverness & Highland City Region Deal was reached between The Scottish Government, UK Government, and The Highland Council, with the Heads of Terms signed in March 2016. The Deal involves a large number of funded projects within a programme running over the next 10 years, with the Deal worth around £315m of investment from the UK Government, Scottish Government, Highland Council and local partners including HIE, UHI, Highlife Highland, and Hitrans. The Deal is anticipated to attract a further £800m of private investment to the region.

One of the strands of the Deal is the delivery of infrastructure improvements with the Longman interchange becoming grade separated to allow traffic to flow uninterrupted along the A9 over the Kessock Bridge, and an east link to connect the A9 and A96. Whilst both of the interventions bring about improvements to traffic flow, they also open up considerable land for commercial and residential development, reducing the constraints the city currently faces around its growth. Whilst these two projects, combined with the new West Link, are in Inverness, they will improve access and reduce the bottlenecks faced by those traveling to and from the wider Highlands.

This will be our members' opportunity to hear from and put questions to Keith Brown MSP, who's Ministerial remit covers cities, infrastructure investment, energy, employability, the economy, fair work, and inward investment.
