SCDI’s strategic engagement programme includes our annual SCDI Forum, Annual Lecture, International Business Summit, Highlands & Islands Business Excellence Awards, Young Engineers & Science Clubs Celebration and National Business Convention, as well as a series of round-table Influencers’ Series discussions with senior Scottish, UK, and European politicians and key business leaders across Scotland and in London.

SCDI offers a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge base and expertise. Working in partnership with industry experts and thought-leaders, SCDI delivers a range of events focused on providing insights into Scotland’s political, economic and industrial landscape.

SCDI also publishes ‘Pointer’, a subscription-based business e-digest providing monthly insights into business activity taking place in, and impacting upon, Scotland’s economy. ‘Pointer’ provides information on topics including new companies and M&As; people; contracts awarded; and business and public sector news on a monthly basis.

SCDI has an unrivalled track record in delivering international trade activity for Scotland. SCDI seeks to create an environment where Scottish organisations can be outward-looking and enterprising. Over a significant period, SCDI has organised and led in excess of 370 international trade visits comprising around 6000 participants to in excess of 50 markets worldwide. SCDI Trade Visits are open to members & non-members alike. We also deliver the SCDI International Business Summit - setting an industry-led agenda to fulfil Scotland's capabilities and encouraging more Scottish businesses to be confident in pursuing international opportunities.

SCDI is an independent, not for profit organisation and is funded by members' subscriptions determined by a voluntary subscription scale. Annual membership fees are calculated based on employee number and turnover. Small business and charity rates are also available.

By agreement with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), all subscriptions to the Scottish Council for Development and Industry are chargeable as a business expense in computing profits for assessment to Corporation or Income Tax. Subscriptions are not subject to a levy of Value Added Tax (VAT).
