SCDI APPOINTS NEW PRESIDENT AND CHAIR

Former STUC General Secretary Campbell Christie and Robert Armour, Scottish Advisor to global energy firm EDF Energy were today (Thursday, December 10) confirmed as the Scottish Council for Development and Industry’s new President and Chair.
At its AGM in Edinburgh, the SCDI members unanimously approved both appointments. Bill Drummond, Managing Partner of legal firm Brodies, was confirmed as Deputy Chair. In her valedictory address as SCDI’s outgoing chair Shonaig Macpherson wished Mr Christie and her successor every success in steering the organisation in the years ahead. Commenting on his appointment, SCDI’s incoming Chair Robert Armour said: ‘I am delighted to be taking over as chair of SCDI at such a challenging time for Scotland. The economic climate means we will all have to face difficult choices as we prioritise what is important for sustainable growth and the delivery of public services. Mr Christie said: ‘It is an honour to take over the presidency of SCDI at this important and challenging time.’
Commenting on the new appointments, SCDI’s Chief Executive, Dr Lesley Sawers said: “I am delighted SCDI will benefit from the leadership and experience of both Campbell Christie and Robert Armour and the board, team and I look forward to working with them both. ‘This is an important and critical time and their input will be invaluable in ensuring SCDI plays a key role in driving forwards the delivery of a sustainable economic future for Scotland.
