Transition Extreme Sports Ltd is one of Scotland’s leading adventure sports operators which has delivered huge growth in extreme sports participation in the North East of Scotland since its inception in 2005. Not only has it facilitated over 1 million sports sessions in skateboarding, BMX, indoor climbing and mixed martial arts during that time, it has uniquely combined participation in sport & physical activity with a structured approach to improving lives through its comprehensive portfolio of youth programmes and Youth Work in sport interventions. The combination delivers significant social and economic benefits and is reflective in the growth of social enterprise in the UK.
In this latest SCDI Business Seminar, Grahame Paterson FRSA, Chief Executive, Transition Extreme Sports Ltd, will examine the role sport and its culture can play as a power for positive economic and social change in young people’s lives. Alongside colleagues from sportscotland, Grahame will expand on the strategic approach that the Scottish Government and sportscotland are taking to have meaningful and long-term positive impact.
In addition, the rise in demand for adventure activities and experiences is being increasingly recognised as important for our Region. Grahame will consider the renaissance imperative for Aberdeen’s beachfront as a key component of any long-term economic development plan for the City and will take the opportunity to endorse Opportunity North East’s leadership approach to developing the recently announced Extreme North concept for regional tourism development.
