Professor Todd Walker joined the University of the Highlands and Islands as its third principal and vice-chancellor in February 2021.

He is an accomplished clinical cytologist with strong teaching, research and consultancy credentials. He has a first-class honours degree in medical biotechnology, a PhD in molecular oncology and a graduate certificate in university leadership and management, all from Charles Sturt University.

Professor Walker is an experienced university senior executive with a distinguished record of achievement leading complex university academic and organisational development.

He has worked in multi-campus, regional universities in Australia for over 20 years including, the University of New England, Charles Sturt University, University of Ballarat and Federation University Australia.

Professor Walker has a deep passion for regional communities, the power of place and the importance of a quality student experience delivered through tertiary education.
