Scottish Water is a publicly owned company, answerable to the Scottish Parliament and the people of Scotland. The utility, which is trusted to care for the water on which Scotland depends, is one of the UK’s best performing water utilities and supplies 1.35 billion litres of fresh clean water a day to over five million customers. As a business that needs to plan long term it is inviting your views on its proposals and ambitions for the coming decades.

Last year, Scottish Water invested £627 million across Scotland which delivered a wide range of Customer Service improvements. The daily role it undertakes is vital to everyday life, the economy and to help build a successful and sustainable Scotland.

To deliver great customer experience you need both the infrastructure and people to do so.  What type of future skills does the water industry need to support its growth and sustainability in the future.

As Chief Executive, Douglas is tasked with leading the senior management team and setting Scottish Water’s strategic direction to ensure Scottish Water continues to provide a world-class service.  In February, it launched a six-month major public consultation called ‘Shaping the Future’.

Stakeholders and communities are being asked to consider three key ambitions which it is proposed will underpin Scottish Water’s activities:

·        Delivering a consistently leading customer experience

·        Keeping customer prices low by driving further innovation and efficiency through smart investment choices

·        Increasing the reliability, resilience and sustainability of our services to new and emerging challenges

Douglas and members from his senior team are keen to hear views on what is important for Scottish Water to deliver now and in the future.
