The completion of Aberdeen Harbour Board’s ‘South Harbour’ in the Summer of 2020 will make Aberdeen Scotland’s largest port in terms of berthage. Michelle supported by Javier will outline the scale of the Harbour expansion and the opportunity this will afford to the future economic development of the city and region.
The project has been classified as one of national significance within the UK and Scottish Governments’ strategic national planning framework and the future opportunities the expanded Port of Aberdeen will afford to the North East of Scotland will be extensive. The Harbour already serves 37 international connections around the globe and will play a pivotal role in supporting the regional economic recovery strategy.
As a major Trust Port within the UK, Aberdeen Harbour has a long and proud history spanning nearly 900 years of continuous business. The ethos of the Trust Port model is to continually improve the harbour for future generations, working in partnership with the business and local community to be an enabling force for economic prosperity. This model has been a significant enabler in facilitating the £350m Harbour Expansion Project, together with the £200m already invested in the existing Port and underpins the Harbour’s ambition to become the Premier Port in Scotland, offering world class facilities to national and international customers and stakeholders.
