SCDI Skills & Employability Summit

Wednesday 31 October 2018

Time – 9:30 am – 3:00 pm
Venue – The Prince’s Trust, Wolfson Centre, 15 Carlton Court, Glasgow, G5 9JP

This FREE summit is the launch of a new project by SCDI and partners – Skills Development Scotland, Prince’s Trust Scotland, OPITO, Caledonian MacBrayne, The University of Edinburgh and SCQF – to look at the future of Skills & Employability in Scotland.

The day will feature contributions from Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills, and experts from the private, public, social and academic sectors.

It has been designed to stimulate discussion and allow us to start to think about how Scotland can be a highly skilled global nation, supporting the needs of businesses and the economy of tomorrow.

Questions likely to be discussed include:

  • How do we ensure our workforce is reflective and inclusive of the society that we live in?
  • How do we identify future skills needs for industry and think about how to deliver those skills needs through further flexibility in the education and skills system?
  • How do we develop a roadmap for Government and stakeholders to implement and drive forward transformative skills and learning opportunities?
  • How do we transition existing talent pool of people in to new roles where digital disruption has impacted on existing roles or where technology has displaced roles completely?
