Workshop One: The Opportunity For Tech That Enables Climate Action

7 May 2021, 1000 – 1130

Can you help accelerate tech that enables climate action?

SCDI, BT Scotland, ScotlandIS and The Royal Society of Edinburgh are working together to explore opportunities to develop, harness and export tech to address Net Zero priorities in Scotland and internationally. We’re focusing on digital elements like data, AI, Cloud, IoT, Digital Reality and Blockchain.

The objective of this first workshop is to prioritise the opportunities of ‘climate tech for Scotland’  so clear recommendations can be made on areas for action. We will discuss the potential for Scotland’s tech sector to meet current and forecast demand in Scotland, the UK and globally. You’ll hear from speakers, then join a breakout to identify key recommendations that SCDI can take forward.

Speakers for workshop one:

  • David Mallon, Head of Climate Change Policy & Implementation Unit, Scottish Government
  • Dr Franck Fourniol, Senior Policy Adviser (Data and AI), The Royal Society
  • Jane Morrison-Ross, Chief Executive, South of Scotland Enterprise
  • Dane Ralston, CEO/Founder, iOpt
