SCDI’s response to recent proposals and discussions on a Transient Tax

The Scottish Government has announced that it will legislate to enable local authorities to implement a Transient Visitor Levy on visitors in paid tourist accommodation in order to secure the support of the Scottish Green Party for the 2019-20 Budget. The City of Edinburgh Council has voted to implement such a levy once this legislation has been passed. Prior to these developments, SCDI submitted formal responses to consultations by both the Scottish Government and The City of Edinburgh Council on this issue, which set out our recommendations based on the views of our members.
