Social Enterprise Events

SCDI has worked in partnership with the Scottish Social Enterprise Coalition over the last two years to provide members with the opportunity to learn more about and engage with the Social Enterprise sector.

Social enterprise is a dynamic way of doing business that can transform communities and drive profound and lasting social change.  Social enterprises are businesses with a social purpose and well known examples include The Eden Project and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant.  Scotland has around 3,000 social enterprises, from multi million pound companies like the Wise Group, more traditional third sector organisations such as housing associations, to community-led initiatives in recycling, transport or childcare.  Together they make up one of the country's fastest growing business sectors, employing more than 30,000 people and adding £2bn - £2.5bn to the national economy.

Global Ambitions

Scotland's International Future

Tuesday 14 September 2010

Venue: School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, EH8 9LE

Scotland’s businesses now operate in a fiercely competitive international market.  Scotland needs to set ambitious targets for growth in winning international business, and SCDI has called for a commitment to double the value of Scotland’s exports over the next decade.

Now in its second year, the SCDI Global Ambitions conference is established as the definitive international event in the Scottish business calendar.

This is your opportunity to connect real time with New York, Toronto, Hong Kong and Mumbai using the leading edge technology of Cisco Telepresence. In a fast paced global economy where quick thinking and fast response times are vital to achieving success we will link your business directly to these dynamic cities.

This unique and innovative event experience will ensure your business can engage directly with our highly connected speakers in market in addition to networking with 200 delegates in Edinburgh. As a nation we must lift our horizons, work with and learn from the best if we want to succeed.

How can we respond and diversify to keep up with the fast paced economies in Asia?

How do we support more businesses to internationalise?

How do we maximise our brand assets?

How do we build a successful, sustainable and internationalised Scotland?

These are the challenges we will address and your input to this event is key to achieving our shared ambitions for Scotland.

Internationalisation is the future for our economy.

Make sure your business has the opportunity to be a part of our success as a nation.
