Speaker:- Professor Gordon McConnell, Vice Principal of Commercial & Regional Innovation, Robert Gordon University

Venue:- Robert Gordon University, Sir Ian Wood Building, Garthdee Road, Aberdeen, AB10 7QJ
A thought-provoking look at the future of innovation, work and careers, this latest SCDI Seminar examines the potential changes that will occur over the next twenty years. The technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Second Machine Age will change how we work and live. Robotics, personalised medicine, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as well as the ever-pervasive Digital Transformation will change everything. This means changing how we educate and what skills will be needed for future-proofing today’s students. It also raises interesting questions on what kind of future we might see – Will future workers have multiple careers perhaps at the same time? Will 20th century concepts like an eight-hour, five-day working week still exist? Will retirement be a viable option for most people? How will fourth industrial revolution technologies affect what jobs will still exist and what new ones are yet to be created? And how does the wider world of innovation & entrepreneurial thinking and learning fit into this future??
A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
