SCDI responds to the Scottish Parliament’s Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee consultation on construction and Scotland’s economy

The Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee of the Scottish Parliament is conducting an inquiry into the Construction sector and its importance to the Scottish economy. In response to the Committee’s call for views, SCDI produced the following submission informed by engagement with our diverse membership.

Our submission highlights the importance of public investment in infrastructure; the likely impact of Brexit on the sector and levels of business and inward investment; the need for an enhanced planning system to support economic development; and the case for reform to the present model of public procurement.
